Fragmented Ambitions
For one of my final class projects, I created a collage interpreting Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, divided into two contrasting halves. One side features dull, colorless tones to reflect isolation, depression, and hopelessness, symbolizing Shylock's struggles. The other side includes colors like red and gold, representing Bassanio's aspirations tied to wealth, marriage, and social mobility. Through this work, I wanted to illustrate how class and status are not just markers of privilege but tools of control that limit individual agency.
